If you want a flight school near Malibu, Van Nuys Airport is about 17 miles away, just over the Santa Monica Mountains. We fly seven days a week, 9 AM to 9 PM, and can take you from a first discovery flight to the airline career path.
Malibu stretches for miles along Pacific Coast Highway, with the Santa Monica Mountains rising straight from the sand. That coastline is one of the most beautiful sights in aviation, and training at Van Nuys puts it within reach. Malibu Canyon or Topanga Canyon take you over the mountains to the 101, and from there it is a quick run east to the airport.
Our Malibu students include Pepperdine University students exploring a career, surfers and outdoor enthusiasts who want a new perspective on the coast, and residents who would rather fly than sit on PCH. Some want to fly a Cirrus to weekend getaways, others want to go all the way to the airlines. We are an FAA Part 61 school, so training is one on one and planned around your schedule.
Canyon roads connect Malibu to the 101, avoiding the long trek down PCH into the city.
We are open 9 AM to 9 PM daily, so lessons fit around classes, work and beach days.
Train in a high-performance aircraft with a glass cockpit and the CAPS whole-airframe parachute.
From the Cessna 162 and Piper Warrior to the Diamond DA20, Piper Arrow and Seminole twin.

Stratus Financial offers terms up to 15 years, plus in-house payment plans.
When weather and air traffic allow, your discovery flight from Van Nuys can cross the Santa Monica Mountains toward the coast. From the air, Malibu shows its whole shape: the headland of Point Dume, the long white sweep of Zuma Beach, the Malibu Pier jutting out beside Surfrider Beach and Malibu Lagoon, and the Pepperdine campus on its hillside above PCH. Inland, you can trace Malibu Creek down its canyon from the mountains to the sea.
Each program is personal, one on one and designed to match your goals, whether you fly for adventure or a career.
Fly friends and family up the coast and explore airports from San Diego to the Central Coast.

From Malibu, take Malibu Canyon Road north (it becomes Las Virgenes Road) to the 101, or come up Topanga Canyon Boulevard to the 101 in Woodland Hills. Head east on the 101, exit at Balboa Boulevard in Encino and drive north past Lake Balboa Park to the airport. We are at 7900 Balboa Blvd, Main Terminal, Van Nuys, CA 91406, about 17 miles from Malibu in a straight line.

At the top of Malibu Canyon, Calabasas students take the 101 east to our terminal.
